Something’s always happening here. If you’re bored in New York, it’s your own fault
– Myrna Loy
Throughout my time in New York City, I was fortunate enough to experience all the wonders, the good and the bad, that New York has to offer. For nine weeks, I experienced the culture, lifestyle, and beauty of the most magnificent city in the world. Never have I ever encountered such a holistically and unapologetically transformative experience that allowed me to dive in and understand the values that New Yorkers hold near and dear to their hearts. Not only do I have a better understanding of attracts people to a place like New York, but also the political, social, and religious issues that play a role throughout the city as a whole.

Throughout the summer, I was challenged to constantly be outside of my comfort zone and think critically about the impact that my actions can have as it shapes my path to becoming a more globally aware citizen. Each experience that I had throughout my time in New York provided me with a new outlook on life, which, in turn, allowed for insightful takeaways about my own life in the 21st century. Because of my time in the City, I have become more aware of the social injustices that exist among society and different cultures that fill the world around me. Every day, I continue to notice situations in the world around me that I would have previously been blind too. Because of this, as I look towards the future, I want to continue on this path to become a more responsible global citizen and continue to act in such a way that the world around me becomes an incredibly beautiful place for humanity.
